Abigail is not listed amongst the known children of John McKnitt. However, the births of 4 children, William, Jean, Sarah, and Elizabeth, do not include citations of their birth records, and thus, it is possible another child was born that was overlooked. Since John McKnitt was related to James Alexander through his daughter Margaret, it is feasible that another relationship might not have been suspected.

James Alexander 'married secondly, about 1745, but the family name of his wife Abigail ... is not of record.'

page 4, pretends to be 20 May 1775.

Scans of this pretend interview with Hezekiah Alexander can be found on the Find a Grave site of Hezekiah Alexander, with a close-up on the Find A Grave site of James Robert “The Yeoman” Alexander.

In this pretend interview with Hezekiah Alexander (obviously created at least a century after May 1775, due to the inclusion of photographs), "Hezekiah" states that his step-mother was Abigail McKnitt, a younger sister of Margaret McKnitt (Hezekiah's mother).

There is no other evidence of the existence of a daughter Abigail of John McKnitt, and a (probably) later article says that Abigail's surname is "not of record". It is possible that there was still family memory of Abigail's origin at the time of the publication of this pretend interview, that was later lost, or it is possible that her origin was speculated or assumed and is incorrect.
