HUSE, Abigail, d. John and Sarah, [born] Nov. 26, 1723.
- The age at death would suggest that Abigail is the daughter of John and Sarah (Toppan) Huse, b. 26 Nov 1723, whose birth is the only appropriate Abigail found in Newbury VRs. Source:Huse, Harry Pinckney. Descendants of Abel Huse of Newbury (1602-1690), p. 19, agrees, though it specifies the birth date as 15 Feb 1724 [?]. However, Source:Hale, Robert Safford. Genealogy of Descendants of Thomas Hale of Watton, England, and of Newbury, Mass, p. 167, notes that "Moses Hale and Abigail his wife" twice sell land that was "formerly part of the estate of Abel Huse, deceased", in 1758 and 1759, and identifies Abigail as a daughter of some unidentified Abel Huse. However, John Huse was a son of Abel Huse and Judith Emery, and John died in 1736, so any inheritance of his father Abel, who did not die until 1757, would have passed directly to the grandchildren. Abel's son, Abel, d. intestate before 1770, when administration was granted to his widow, and so couldn't have been the Abel referred to. So it seems Abigail was indeed the daughter of John Huse and Sarah Toppan, and granddaughter (not daughter) of Abel.
