BORN in 1824, born and baptised (at Holy Trinity and All Saints) at Winterton Norfolk, baptised on the 12th September 1824
DIED son the 10th of November 1888 at sea on a vessel called the Refuge, drowned when the lifeboat “Refuge” capsized off Gorleston, place of death Yarmouth **
Married Rebecca Powles*** b.1824 d.1855 married in 16th September 1845.at Holy Trinity and All Saints, Winterton with East Somerton, Norfolk
Remarried after her death to a Elizabeth, b.1837 surname unknown
Occupation Master Fisherman/Sailor of the lifeboat “the Refuge”, “the Gathirin”, “Caroline” a Lugger. Residence 1851 Public House Lane unemployed , Winterton, as of 1861 census was at sea he was the Master on the H L Fishing Lugger, possibly served in the Merchant Navy, living at Nile Road, Gorleston in 1881 census.

On November the 10th 1888 four crew from the private Gorleston lifeboat the Refuge drowned whilst out on a rescue to the steamer Akaba at Hammonds Knoll
