Semnacher, William M, pianist, teacher, composer; b Wuretmberg, Germany, March 6, 1839; began studying piano there at 11; came to U.S. at 14 and lived with an uncle at Troy; pupil of E. Thorbecke; began teaching, 1857, at Baltimore, also studying with Ernst Szemeleny and taking harmony lessons from Charles Lenchow; taught piano and singing at Lutherville Seme.; 1850 - 1860; studied in Stuttgart, Germany, 1860-63 under many famous masters; was in Lexington, KY 1864-66; professor New York Conservatory of music 1866-67; took a course of lessons from Dr. William Mason, Otto Singer and Chev. de Kontski; gave numerous concerts; returned to Stuttgart for further study 1874-79; since then in New York. In 1892 established Nat. Int. of Music, of which he is still head. Composer: Spring Breezes Nocturne; Valse Elegante Barearolle; Caprice Elegante; Un Jour de Printemps; Song without Words: Rondo Scherzo duet; Progress Rondo; etc. Address: 179 E. 64th St. N Y.
