Dumond H. "Dewey" Baker, 79, of 460 Woodruff Ave. died yesterday at the Veterans Administration Hospital, Canandaigua.
He was born in Ilion and had resided in Syracuse most of his life.
Mr. Baker wa a communicant of Assumption Catholic Church and was a member of its Holy Name Society.
He retired in 1965 as superindendent of the Jefferson Street Armory and also was associated with the LeMoyne College Athletic Center.
Mr. Baker was a member of the Pastime Athletic Club and was a member of the original board of directors of the Cavalry Club. He was an Army veteran of both World Wars.
Surviving are his wife, Genevieve; three daughters, Mrs. Peggy Rinella, Mrs. Rosemary Moyer and Mrs. Mary Beth Vasenelli; a son, Robert A.; a sister, Mrs. Marguerite Thompson of Havre de Grace, Md.; 10 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be Monday at 8:30 a.m. at the Carter Funeral Home, and at 9 a.m. in Assumption Church.
Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9p.m. tomorrow.
