Text of will

In The Name of God I Jacob Vancamp of Matilda in the County of Dundas and province of upper Canada Considering the uncertainty of this mortal life and being of sound and perfect mind do hereby make and publish this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following (viz) The farm that I now live on in the Town of Matilda first Concession being half of Lot No. 29 on the east side with the Tenaments farming utensils and all the stock viz Horse Cows etc I leave under the Command and management of my wife Hannah Vancamp as long as She remains my widow But if she gets married again then to have one third of the fore mentioned property providing she maintains my two? Small Children viz Tunas[?] & Joshua[?] till they Come to proper age to maintain them selves and providing she the said Hannah does not maintain the said small children then that third to be for the support of the said children and if any more to be [unreadable word] [unreadable word] own proper estate.

and after the other Two thirds is out of the possession of my wife Hannah Vancamp By marriage or Death then it is my will that it be equally divided between my sons and daughter whom I name hereafter viz Jacob, William John Tunas Joshua & Elizab[eth]

further bequeath four hundred Acres of land lying in the afore mentioned township to all my sons & Daughters to be divided equally between Peter, Catharine, Jacob, William, John, Tunas, Joshua and Elisabeth --

This I make and publish to be my Last Will and Testament This nineteenth day of March in the year of our Lord one Thousand Seven hundred and ninety eight
