MySource:Rmg/Gristgen database

A database collected over a period of about 40 years by Ed Grist, initially by personal visits to county record offices. Later additions came from online sources as computers became available and online searches could be made.

The transcriptions have been stored on various computer systems over the years, being updated and changed to different formats as software became obsolete. Due to age and health Ed gave up the struggle to get it all back online in 2007. The raw data is now being reworked, hopefully for the last time, either into person and family pages on WeRelate or as source data on the Grist exchange page.

The database is over 95% British records from 1540 onwards, several lines are known to have emigrated so members from 'foreign parts' who have a Grist immigrant could possible trace that line back to the 16th century. It will take a long time to get the data entered so anyone can request a lookup from Rhian
