Hello Nannette, I believe we are related. I am the only child of Marion Floyd Green and Emma Fern Hetzler is my grandmother. You are evidently the granddaughter of my Aunt Hazel. As I recall she had four daughters and one son, Jane, Joanne, Hilda Grace, Patsy and John - is that correct? I believe that she lost a little girl too when the child was very young. Most of this information is from listening to adults talking when I was a child and what I was able to find from my mother's diarys. She kept them faithfully from the time she was 15 to her death in 1948 at the age of 58. Hilda Grace came to our home in Norwood, Ohio to visit for a few days when I was a kid. Aunt Cleo was pretty close to her family and I picked up a few things from listening to her talk. Aunt Cleo supposedly was living in St Paris, Ohio the last I heard. Because of her age I would imagine she has passed away. Her only child, an adopted son named Barnard Jr., should be in his late 60's or early 70's by now but I've not been able to find his name in the Cincinnati phone directory. I wanted to talk to him to find out about Aunt Cleo. I've posted requests on the Shelby County and Miami County genealogy websites looking for information about our family but yours is the first bit of news I've received. As to the Hetzlers, my father went to live with his Uncle Clyde Hetzler and his wife Minnie when their mother died. He was only 11 years old and he stayed with them ( they had no children of their own) and worked on the farm until his marriage to my mother, Arta Irene Bartel. Clyde and Minnie lived on the family farm at an area known as Hetzler's Corners, just a crossroad in the country between Piqua and Sidney. I remember visiting them whenever we were in the area. I did find out the marriage date of Emma Fern Hetzler and Emerson Green on either the Miami County or Shelby County genealogical website. There were also mention of several Hetzler members but did not pursue the connections further I'm sorry to say. Always planned to get back to the task but got off on "another rabbit trail" chasing my husband's relatives in Kentucky. I will check my records and find what I can about the Green side of the family, someone in Sidney sent me a list of names of Emerson's brothers - not much else - but will forward what I can find. I do not recall my father ever speaking kindly about his father. He evidently worked for the railroad and was frequently gone from the family. When he was home I suspect he was abusive and perhaps drank a lot. I remember my father talking about his father beating Uncle Roger when he was a child and taking from him a little bit of money that he'd earned doing a chore or something for someone. Did you know Emma Fern Hetzler Green is buried in Lima Cemetary? We went there one Memorial Day with Aunt Cleo and found her unmarked grave. I also recall my Dad saying that Uncle Harry was the only one to go to Joplin when Emerson died. I think that you have the wrong date of death for Aunt Grace as I spent some time at her home

in Piqua about 1941 or 42 (in that area). She lived in a duplex house and her son, John Dill, his wife Ruth, and their daughter, Norma Jean, lived downstairs. Norma Jean was a couple years younger than I at the time.

My father married Edna Lee, a widow, in 1952 four years after my mother's death and he lived until 1958. I believe Aunt Grace was here in Cincinnati for his funeral.

Oh, by the way. My name is Elizabeth Louise Green Wilson, I was always know as Betty Lou. My birthdate is October 13, 1928 and am an only child. I've always lived in the Cincinnati area, grew up in Norwood and now live about twenty miles north of the city in West Chester. Would love to hear more about your family. I recall with great kindness Aunt Hazel - she was always such a nice lady and I'm sure she had a pretty hard life. I believe all of the brothers and sisters had a struggle after their mother's death.

Little Tidbits of "info": 1. Uncle Roger was married to the former Nina Kiser 2. Uncle Hugh as you know was adopted by the Boops. He was an over the road truck driver and owned his own rig. Once in awhile he'd stop by when he was in the Cincinnati area. His wifes name was Violet and they had a daughter named Connie. They lived in Canton, Ohio.

Will try to dig up more to share - Betty Wilson
