June Mengwasser made a trip to Mercer and Madison counties in 2006 and discover. This is an excerpt from her notes. "I have been looking for the Bryant & Mary Nugent Davis children. When I got to the Madison County, Kentucky records, where John and James Davis were living in 1861, I not only found both of them in the census but also in the marriage records."

John Davis’ marriage record is on a form that asked for the birthplace of his parents. The notations indicated that his mother was born in Hawkins County, TN and that his father was born in Mercer County, KY. Just recently I was able to get to a microfilm of the Mercer County records, and found this info. The will went through probate in 1811.
