| Mary Elizabeth Duncan was born in Calloway county, Mo., June 8, 1831, and died in Morland Kansas, Nov 23, 1914, being 83 years, 5 months and 5 days of age. |
| She was united in marriage to William Ray of Iowa March 12, 1850. They moved to Kansas in 1871 and settled on a homestead near Kirwin. When a girl of 13 years she united with the Methodist Episcopal church and was a member of the church until God called her to join the church above. She leaves an husband, a son and a daughter to mourn her loss. |
| The funeral was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Halstead, Rev. C. A. Davis officiating, and the body was placed in the Morland cemetery to await the general resurrection day.
