The funeral services for the late John William Ray were held Tuesday afternoon at the home of his son, William Ray, in Yell Township at 1 o'clock and at the Methodist church at Fraser at 2 o'clock. The services were in charge of the Reverend Charles Davis of Boone. The music was furnished by Mrs. Albia Mathson and Miss Lillie Olson of the Boone Biblical College. The songs sang were "The Eastern Gate", "Heavenly House","No Night There" and "Will There Be Light For Me". Pallbearers were Messrs. Elmer Ray, Johnnie Pritchard,Orville Pritchard, and Marvin Pritchard. Interment was at Mineral Ridge. The bereaved ones has the sympathy of many friends. |

John William Ray was born in Page County, Iowa, on November 10, 1851 and died September 30, 1928, at the house of his son, William Ray. He was the son of William and Mary Ray. He was united in marriage with Mary A. Duncan on October 30, 1870 and to this union were born seven children: John of Cedar Rapids; Alvin of Otho; William of Boone; May Pritchard of Rockwell City. His wife,
one daughter and two sons preceded him in death. He also leaves twenty-five grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren. |
