Andrew Irvin 'Irvie' Davis

    Lifetime Shell resident Andrew Irvin "Irvie" Davis, 79, died March 2, 2004, at West Park Hospital.
    He was born Aug. 6, 1924, in Greybull, the son of Irvin "Books" and Maude May Kershner Davis. 
    He received his elementary schooling in Shell and attended Greybull High School, where he was involved in football, wrestling and boxing.
    He joined the Marine Corps in 1944 and served in the Pacific during World War II. He achieved the rank of corporal and was honorably discharged in 1946.
    Mr. Davis married Ruth Catherine Hunter on March 8, 1957, in Billings.
    A cattle rancher most of his life, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, photography, the mountains, riding his horses and woodworking. He especially loved his grandchildren. 
     Mr. Davis belonged to Elks Lodge No. 1431 in Greybull and was a member of the Farm Bureau for many years.
    Survivors include his wife, Ruth C. "Trina" Davis of Shell, children Jim Davis of Buellton, Calif., Irvin Davis of Greeley, Colo., Amy (Phil) Markham of Harlan, Iowa, Ruth (Bill) Long of Cody, and Alan Davis of Shell, five grandchildren, and sister Velma "Birdie" Johnston of Thermopolis.
    He was preceded in death by his parents.
    There will be a viewing 2-8 p.m. Friday at the Atwood Family Funeral Chapel in Basin. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Shell Community Hall.
