"Had he lived until Dec. 1', 1921" - Presumably the 12th.

Wednesday Thomas E. Dunn died at the home of his daughter Mrs. P.T. Payne of Pompeii, following a week's illness of bowel trouble. Mr. Dunn was the son of Jacob and Rhodo Dunn and was born in Bradford country, Penn., July 2nd, 1839 and died in Pompeii, Mich., October 12, 1921 aged 82 years, 3 months and 10 days. He came to Michigan when young with his parents and December 12, 1861 was united in marriage to Miss Vianna Long of Montcalm county, where they afterwards made their home. Mr. and Mrs. Dunn were the parents of seven children, five of whom are living. They are as follows: Mrs. Ella Payne, Pompeii; Mrs. Alma Eckert, Palo.; Mrs. Birdie Jennings and Wm. Dunn of Ithaca and John Dunn of Alma. In 1863 he responded to his country's call and served nearly three years before he was discharged. Mr. Dunn was converted in 1869 and was a member of the Methodist church at Stanton. He was a faithful Christian, always taking an active part in church work and died as christians die, cheerfully following the lead of the Master. It was his hope that those he left behind might imitate his faith in Christ, serve faithfully and all be united in the better land. Mr. Dunn's home was at Stanton, Mich., but having spent so much time with his daughter, Mrs. P.T. Payne in Pompeii, we too feel we can claim and mourn him as a citizen and extend to the sorrowing wife and children our heartfelt sympathy in their sad bereavement. Had he lived until Dec. 1', 1921, they would have celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary. He was a loving husband and father, a faithful christian and a loyal soldier The funeral was held Friday at 10 o'clock at the Payne home conducted by Rev. J.G. Beiry, assisted by Rev. F. J. Schlueter, burial in Crystal cemetary.
