He was born in Detroit, MI on November 23, 1942 to Richard and Helen (Seppen) Collins. While living in Florida, he enlisted in the Air Force and served at Amarillo Air Force Base in Texas. He moved to Springfield in 1979 and married Patricia Saunders on August 24, 1979 at Stanley Park in Westfield. He was an avid reader, interested in many topics such as politics and current events. He was a frequent contributor of Letters to the Editor in the Springfield newspapers. Dennis loved cooking, reading, and spending time with Patricia - he loved the rocky coast of Maine and the beauty of the National Seashore on Cape Cod. Besides his wife of 32 years, Dennis is survived by his sons - Kevin Collins and his husband Justin Cascio of Northampton, MA and Wolf (Scott) Collins and his wife Jennifer and their sons Ben, Zachary, Ezekiel, and Caleb of Michigan and by his brother David Collins and his wife Diane of Pennsylvania. All services will be private.
