Francis Bassett of Specimen Hill, Long Gully, Sandhurst,
County unnamed, in the Colony of Victoria, at one time Refreshment House keeper now Miner.
In the Supreme Court:
In Its Insolvency Jurisdiction in the Insolvent Estate of Francis Bassett of Spercimen Hill, Long Gully Sandhurst,etc.in the said Colony of Victoria onetime Refreshment House keeper now Miner, the within named Insolvent hereby undertakes immediatley after the order sequestrating my Estate is obtarned, to lodge my schedule at the Sheriff's Office, and further that I communicate with the Offical Assignee appointed to my estate within twenty four hours after such appoitment.

In the matter of the Petition of Fracis Bassett of Specimen Hill, Long Gully, Sandhurst, County unnamed in the Colony of Victoria at one time a Refreshment house keeper now Miner.
I Francis Bassett of Specimen Hill, Long Gully, Sandhurst, County unnamed in the Colony of Victoria at one time a Refreshment house keeper now Miner make oath and say I am Insolvent and desiress of surrendering my Estate for the benefit of my Creditors according to Law.
THAT the causes of my Insolvency arises from
1. inability to obtain a living as a miner
2. unsuccess in tribute
3. sickness in family
4. Bad debts

In the Matter of the Petition of Francis Bassett of Specimen Hill, Long Gully, Sandhurst, County unnamed in the Colony of Victoria at one time Refreshment House keeper now Miner.
I, Francis Bassett of (same as the above),oath and say,
1. That I came to the Colony in the year one thousand eight hundred and fifty seven and have been residing and working at Sandhurst during nearly the whole time since my arrival.
2. That I have never been successful and about fifteen months ago opened a Refreshment House but was soon obliged to close it for I could not make sufficient to pay my way.
3. That about eight months ago I joined seven others in a tribute in the Buds Reef Co. Kangaroo Flat where we worked until February but the Tribute was not paying and I found I was getting more into debt so I gave up.
4. That my employment as a miner on wages is so uncertain that I am barely able to find a living for myself, my wife and two children.
5. That my wife has been very ill and twelve months ago was laid up for six months and I have in consequence been put to much expence and she is now only slowly recovering after an illness of four months.
6. That my creditors are threatering to proceed against me but it is utterley out of my power to
satisfy their claims.
