[S1328] - Criminal Complaint

Black Bob Again The Regular Case of Shooting

Henry Feltenberger, an old man of sixty-five, lives on Black Bob. His son-in-law, John Beck, lives on the adjoining claim. It appears that the ties of relationship are not very binding, and for some time past they have been indulging in more or less bickering and quarreling. In the division fence between their premises there is a gap, which Feltenberger recently stopped with the brush cut from a hedge. On Sunday last Beck undertook to open the gap, and while so engaged the former came along and ordered him to desist. Beck failed to comply, and the old gentleman promptly drew a pistol and fired, the ball striking Beck in the knee, inflicting a very serious would that may involve the loss of his limb. After shooting, the pistol was cocked again and a second command to retire issued, which Beck promptly obeyed.

Mr. Feltenberger was arrested on Monday on a warrant issued by Justice Ridge of Stanley, and his examination will commence to-day in this city before Justices Ridge and Wilson.

At last accounts Mr. Beck was in a rather serious condition, and the physicians express an opinion that he will be fortunate if he escapes with only the loss of a limb.
