We have found records in Shelby Co. Ky. and elsewhere on many descendants of James & Duranda Morton. Some stayed in their home county. Marriage Index and Cemeterys show their names for several generations.
James Morton left a Will in Shelby Co. Will file #17 pages 143/4. His estate was not settled until Duranda died 1851. Son Hyram B. Morton was appointed Guardian for the minor children of Cornelia and later for youngest brother Robert T., who died in 1853. The Estate was finalized in April 1859. These papers are on record at the courthouse in Shelbyville, Ky.
James Morton's Will lists all his children, but we are not sure if they are in order of birth. Here is the information we have gathered on this family.

1860 census of Shelby Co. Ky. show Benjamine Q. & Catherine Morton - Hiram B. & Martha Morton - George Morton, as well as Mothershead, Rucker, Perkings, and Branham have remained in their home county.
Warren C. Morton is found 1860 in Jackson Co. Mo. and their descendants in Johnson Co. Kansas.

We continue research for the Virginia County from which our pioneer families migrated to Madison Co. Ky. On the reconstructed census of 1790 taken from the original Tax Payer Lists, show many Morton & Quinn families in Virginia. Prince Edward and Charlotte Counties have been suggested by other researchers.
