Henry Feltenberger (later Filtingberger) was born in Harrison Co. Ohio, Greene Twp. his parents were Jacob Feltenberger & Mary Magdaline Heisler. His grandparents Henry Heisler & Catherine E. Weiant had migrated to Ohio from Northumberland Co. Pa. and in 1806 bought the entire section #9 in Township 11, range 4, Jefferson Co., Ohio (later Harrison Co. Greene Twp.) Henry Heisler, before his death, divided this farm among his children.

Henry spent his childhood on the farm his parents and grandparents had claimed. The courthouse of Harrison Co. at Cadiz, Ohio several records show the division as follows:

This indenture between Henry Heisler and Catherine, his wife, and Maria (Mary) Magdalene Feltenberger, $1,000 beginning at the north east corner of section 9 Twp 11, Range 4 - running west 85 perches to stake, thence south 169 perches to stake, thence east 85 perches to stake, being center corner in east boundary line - thence north 160 perches to beginning. 85 acres.

Henry was the third child, 1st son of Jacob & Mary Magdalene (Heisler) Feltenberger. He is shown on census records in Harrison Co. Green (German) Twp. 1820/30, in their household.

On Dec. 28, 1838 Henry Feltenberger married Susanna Stonebrook, the daughter of Jacob Stonebrook and Elizabeth Heisler (the sister of Mary Magdalene Heisler). Jacob Stonebrook had come into Ohio from Pennsylvania, either Northumberland or Jefferson County.

Henry was a farmer as his father & grandfathers were. Before 1850 the family of seven children moved to Gallia Co. Ohio Perry Twp. 1850 census shows them.
