THE JOHN LAUGHLIN FAMILY
John Laughlin was born ca 1786/87 according to census records, in Virginia. In 1850 his age is given as 63 and in 1860 it is given as 75, but in both forms he stated that Virginia was his birth state. John was a farmer an is on Kentucky Taxpayer lists from 1809 through 1816 except the years 1812-12-14-15. We believe he was a volunteer in the War of 1812 but did not ask for Bounty Land.
1810 shows John Laughlin on Hickston Creek Watershed. He had one horse.

Hinkston Creek now is the boundary between Bourbon and Nicholas Counties. Our Laughlin family lived in the same area as early as 1807 (Taxpayer Lists). There was a William Laughlin who we are trying to identify as either Father or Brother to John, and Robert & Joseph LUCKIE are all staying close. On the 1850 census all are listed in Nicholas county. At times, lines between counties were redrawn.

Patsy Luckie's parents Robert Luckie and Catherine Foster were married in Bourbon County Ky 9 April 1793. Robert Luckie was born ca 1770 and died Jan 1837. Catherine (Foster) Luckie was born ca 1774 and died 1821. All taking place in Bourbon Co. Ky. Robert Luckie was the son of John Luckie who died 1824 and left his Will in Bourbon Co. Robert Luckie married 2nd 1 April 1828 Mary (Horn) Hicklin, widow, who died 1833. Wills of these people are on file in the courthouse in Paris, Ky.

Tabitha Trimble was the daughter of Isaac Trimble and Mary (Polly) Graham. Isaac was born 1753 Augusta Co. Va died 1814 Bourbon Co. Ky. Mary (Graham) was born 1760 in Virginia and died 1822 Bourbon Co. Ky. They were married 14 June 1787 Rockbridge Co. Va and came to Kentucky in 1798. Tabitha had brothers Fergus, David, John G., Isaac P., Arthur H., sisters Betsy, Ella, Mary, Sally.
Census records in Kentucky 1840 Bourbon Co. page 316 show John Laughlin & Tabitha with 6 sons and 1 daughter - 1850 Nicholas Co. 3 sons and 1 daughter - 1860 Nicholas Co. Eli, the youngest, age 20 still at home.
Neither Bourbon nor Nicholas Counties Records have a Will or Estate, Probate for our John Laughlin.
