Julia grew up and attended schools in Wyandotte Co. Kansas, graduating from Rosedale High School in 1934. After going on to secretarial school in Kansas City, Mo. she found employment at Shukert Fur Company making fur coats. After marriage she was a housewife and mother for 18 years, returning to work as a saleslady at the Sears Roebuck Store on the Country Club Plaza.
Jim Laughlin grew up in Stanley, Kansas and worked at the Kansas City Star as a truck driver, going each day to the Miles of View Farm in Johnson Co. to care for and train horses. He was a trainer of Show horses, Jumper & Hunter class, riding in the American Royal Horse Show.
During World War II Jim was employed at T.W.A. Airlines at he Kansas City, Mo. airport, refitting and overhauling transport planes used by the military. After the war, Jim and his brother went into business together, at Stanley, Kansas. Laughlin Brothers Garage was sold in 1976 after 30 years.
Retiring in 1978 several years were spent traveling and living at Pomme de Terre Lake, moving to Belton, Missouri in 1989. We enjoy some travel and return to the lake in the summer to play golf and enjoy the outdoor life there. On moving to Belton we became members of the Belton United Methodist Church.

Jerry attended schools in Johnson County, Kansas, graduating from Shawnee Mission High School in 1957, was National Honor Society, earned a letter in Cross Country Track competition. He went on to the University of Kansas at Lawrence majoring in Mechanical Engineering. in 1960/62 he served in the U.S. Air Force Reserves, 442 Troup Carrier Wing, Civil Engineers based at Richards Gebauer Air Base at Belton, Mo. The Berlin Wall Crisis of 1961 kept him in full service another year.
After service and marriage Jerry finished his education at the Finley Engineering College in Kansas City, Mo. while Mattie worked at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. Jerry is now a Safety Engineer for the General Services Administration Office at their Kansas City Office. Jerry and Mattie are active in the World Wide Church of God. They have no children.
