Have just visited your web-site and it's changed again! Even better! I can add some additional information regarding my side of the Mullins family gleaned during the miserable Christmas weather. I see you've added Charles Goff. He was mentioned by my grandfather Arthur. I don't know the exact circumstances though I can guess, however I do know that he was brought up as a member of the family. I know granddad was very fond of him. Indeed I remember visiting his grave with my granddad in the 60's He's buried at Steeple on the Isle of Purbeck. I believe he lived at Creech Grange. Regarding my grandma Susan Constance Melinda Light she was born at Langton Matravers near Swanage on 22 Sep 1894. She was baptised there on 22 Nov 1894. As her father was a member of the Dorset Constabulary she moved around Dorset but I know she attended Evershot School and was confirmed by the Bishop of Salisbury at Evershot on 18 April 1916. I also have more details regarding Granddad's sisters - my great aunts Kate died at Abbotsbury during April 1964 aged 86. Her husband Mr HG Broadby died in 1951. I think his first name was Herbert. The newspaper cutting of her funeral records the name as BRODBY but I'm sure this is a spelling mistake. Annie She married but my mum can only give Uncle Bun as her husband's name. She lived her life in Evershot (Back Street). She died in the late 40's/early 50's. Rose Her grave gives her name as Rosina though I always knew her as Aunt Rose. She died 10 Dec 1975 aged 94 and is buried at Bradley Hampshire Her husband was George Ambrose Harwood who died 03 July 1955 aged 75 and is buried alongside her. They had one daughter Lucy (unmarried) whom I last met in the late sixties and have no details since then.

Dear Jane

I see you've upgraded the web site again! Even better! I will try to contact you when I'm next down in Somerset and let you have a look at the family things. We did re-discover Aunt Kate's (Kate Mullins) photo albums from about 1910 which posed more questions than answers! Here's some further information I've gained recently Henry Charles Mullins I know he died on my grandfather Arthur's birthday (15 Jul) but I don't know the year (prob 1936). Seeing the dates you give for his parents' deaths confirms the story granddad told me that he was an orphan. Charles Goff I can confirm his dates as b1873 d 8 Jul 1959 aged 86 from his gravestone at Steeple, Isle of Purbeck. His wife was Mary, they had no children. I couldn't find her grave there. Kate Mullins Her married name is BRODBY not BROADBY. I think it must have been granddad's Dorset accent that added the a for me! I've confirmed this through the Mormon web-site for the 1881 Census you quote as links, and by reference to Aunt Kate's postcards. She was born in 1878 and died Apr 1964. I can remember visiting her and going to church there the Sunday after her funeral and later clearing her house in Abbotsbury. The car certainly chugged up Abbotsbury hill afterwards! I still have her Bible. I should be walking around there this Sunday. I'll try and check the dates off her stone. Herbert Brodby Aunt Kate's husband died at Abbotsbury in 1951. They were married in 1917. (Newspaper cutting about Aunt Kate's death). I'm hearing stories recently that they had a boy who died in infancy. This was recorded by my brother-in-law Tim who unknown to me had questioned Grandma about the family back in 1990 shortly before she died. Most of the information related to her side of the family which I'm now chasing up thanks to your links! Though she did mention the family lore I've also heard that the family originally were whalers from Ireland. How they got to Evershot is anyone's guess! George Ambrose Harwood Using the 1881 Census I'm fairly certain I've tracked down Aunt Rosina (Rose's) husband. He appears in Family History Library Film 1341507 PRO Reference RG11 Piece/Folio 2102/83 as a 9 month old child born at Bloxworth Dorset which is near Wareham. Arthur Mullins You kindly mentioned that you might be able to find his war record. If it helps his Army number was 16702 and he was a member of the 1st Dorset Regiment. I know from his letters that he was on the line at 19 Apr 1918. Hope you've enjoyed these ramblings I will make the effort to look you up soon! Best wishes Nick Bowditch
