James H. and Janice K. (Dittmer) Mills

James Henry Mills, the only child of Herschell Ewing and Dorothy (Winfrey) Mills, was born on October 23, 1946 at Higginsville Clinic. Jim's early childhood years were spent in the Corder area where his father was a professional painter. The Mills family moved to a chicken farm south of Concordia in 1957. Jim graduated from Concordia High School in 1965.

On January 4, 1969, Jim married Janice Kay Dittmer at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Concordia. Jan, the middle child of Edwin A. and Mabel L. (Schumacher) Dittmer, was born March12, 1948 at Marshall Hospital in Pettis county. Jan lived on the family farm, now owned by her brother, south of Concordia from her birth until her marriage. She graduated from Concordia High School in 1966 and St. Paul's Junior College in 1968.

Jim began his long-term civil servant employment at Whiteman Air Force Base in 1974. He has been a devoted member of Concordia Fire and Rescue for nearly twenty years. Jan has had various part time jobs including the elected position of Concordia City Collector since 1978. Jim and Jan are active members of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Concordia.

On November 21, 1973, their marriage was blessed with the birth of their only child, Julie Lynn Mills. Julie attended St. Paul's grade school, Concordia High School and graduated from Central Missouri State University in 1996. Julie married a classmate from CMSU, Darren Jeffrey Starbuck, on June 10, 1995. The Starbucks reside in Warrensburg, Missouri.
