I orginally was trying to find out about the nieces and nephews of James McCord mentioned in the probate of his will in Scott County. In doing so I had hope of finding out about James McCord's brother's and sisters, who they married and about their children.

I have found that the names mentioned were not only neices and nephews of James but were also children of the nieces and nephews. I have found more information since I made the original post a while ago:

Clement Nutter was born in KY in 1795, a son of Thomas Nutter and Sarah Bagwell. He married Ann McCord of Fayette County, Ky about 1817. In about 1825 they purchased land from the US government in Warrick County, Indiana. John, James, Ross & Nancy McCord, Ann's brothers and sister also purchased land there at the same time. John was the only one that made Warrick County his permanent home, he died there in 1850. Ross and James never lived there as far as I can tell. Nancy married John Hughes and ended up in Ohio County, KY. Their descendants are the Hughes and Bennetts mentioned in James McCord's probate records. Clement and Ann lived in Warrick County only a few years and returned to Fayette County, KY. They had the following children-- Mary Jane Nutter (m. John R. Nutter) --probably a cousin Sarah Ann Nutter (m. Pollard Elbert) Elizabeth Nutter (m. Samuel Jefferson Garth) Martha Nutter (m. Parker B. Bryant)

Mary Jane Nutter was therefore a niece of James McCord. Mary Jane died about 1848. Even though her husband John R. Nutter died aroung 1870. he was excluded from inheritances from both Clement Nutter and the Nutters of Scott County, KY. He was bypassed and his children Marion and Clement J. received it instead.

So the Marion Nutter that was excluded in James McCord's will was acutally James' sister's daughter's son. (a son of his niece)

Except for the Boyds, I have found the relationship to everyone mentioned in James' probate record. The Sarah A. Boyd may be the daughter of John McCord by his first wife, as I know her name to be Sarah Ann Frances McCord. Fayette County Kentucky marriage records shows a Sarah A. McCord that marries a Samuel Boyd. A Sam Boyd is also mentioned in James McCord's probate record.

Thanks again, any information is greatly appreciated by me.

Bill
