Obituary - Thomas Marshall Thomas Marshall was born in Yorkshire, Eng. December 22, 1842 and passed away at the Soldiers' and Sailors' home at Milford, Neb., May 18, 1929. He came to America when a boy in company with his mother and two brothers, Frank and John, who preceded him in death several years. His early manhood was spent near Morrison, IL., where, in 1862, he enlisted in Company F, Thirty Fourth Illinois volunteer infantry, serving until honorably discharged at the end of the war. In 1869, he was married to Miss Anna Hancock of Fair Haven, IL. To this union three children were born, Nellie E., Frank J., and Charles F.. Frank J. passed away when 2 years old. Nellie E. is now a resident of Kearney, Neb. and Charles F. of Anniston, Ala. In 1871 he with his small family came west and took a soldier's homestead at Friend, where all the hardships of pioneer life were endured. He was a member of Farragut post No. 25 of Lincoln, the members of which will have charge of the funeral services at the grave in Wyuka.


Pension Application - Thomas Marshall SURGEON GENREAL'S OFFICE - Washington, D.C. Oct 4, 1881 Sir: I have the honor to return herewith your request for a report of hospital treatment in Claim No. 229344, with such information as is furnished by the records files in this Office, viz: that Sergt. Thomas Marshall, Co B, 34th Ill Vols. entered No. 8 G.H. [General Hospital] Nashville, Tenn June 24/63 with Gunshot flesh wound of right arm upper third and was transferred Aug 4, 1863. He entered G.H. Louisville, KY Aug 8 1863 with wound in right arm and was transferred Sept 26 1863. He entered G.H. Madison Ind. Sept. 26 1863. Convelescent and was returned to duty Nov. 24 1863. There are no records of the Regiment on file. By order of the Surgeon General:
