No. 2137, 23 July 1877 Donation by Sam’l Rollins to Sam’l Rollins Ex. I. In presence of me T. Amyrauld, Notary Public for the Province of Quebec, in the Dominion of Canada, residing at Granby, in the District of Bedford, Samuel Rollins senior farmer of the Township of Shefford in the District of Bedford hath given & granted, by way of donation ?inter nous? with warranty against all debts, mortgages, dowers, troubles or hindrances whatsoever unto Samuel Rollins junior farmer of the same place his son hereto present and accepting for himself his heirs and assigns to wit: 1. A certain piece of land lying & situate in said Township of Shefford, known & distinguished as the west half of lot number eight in the tenth Range of lots of said Township containing one hundred acres more or less, with all the buildings & improvements thereon – 2. An other piece of land lying & situate in said Township known & distinguished as the south half of the north half of lot number seven in the tenth Range of lots of said Township of Shefford, containing fifty acres more or less, with all the improvements thereon- Together also with all the house furniture, stock of cattle, horses, agricultural & other implements, vehicles, harnesses, dairy utensils, etc. etc., on said premises & generally all & every moveable property belonging to said Donor, where be situated & whatever it may consist of with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging, of which said Donee is content and satisfied, having seen and viewed the same previous hereto; and without any reservation whatever on the part of the said Donor who is lawfully seized therof as having acquired the same by virtue of good & sufficient titles. The Donee shall be the full proprietor of the premises from this day henceforth, and take possession of the same forthwith. The present donation is so made in manner aforesaid to reward said Donee for his faithful services during the twenty three years since his age of majority which he has spent in working for the Donor his father. And further the said Donee shall be obliged to pay all the present debts of said Donor. 2. The said Donee shall be obliged to keep & maintain with him on said premises the said Donor & his present wife during their lifetime, in comfortable manner & give them all the attendance & care as their age & state of health may require of a dutiful son, and after their death to have them decently buried. 3. Said Donee shall be obliged to pay to each of his sisters, to wit; Annis Rollins wife of James Blampin junior, Sarah Rollins wife of George Kimpton & Susannah Rollins wife of William Wallace, each the sum of one hundred dollars, to be so to them pay one half after the death of said Donor’s present wife & the other half after the said Donor’s death. And in security whereof the said premises shall remain specially affected & mortgaged by privilege of Bailleur ?? defund expressly ?? . And for the execution of these presents, the parties have elected domicile at their place of residence above mentioned. Whereof acte: Done and passed at Granby, in the office of said me T. Amyrauld, on the twenty third day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy seven in the after noon, under number two thousand one hundred & thirty seven. And signed by said Donee & notary after their presents were duly read said Donor having declared not to be able to write on account of injury to his right thumb, arm & made his mark.
