E-Mail: [email protected] It was a very cold but sunny day on Jan. 12, 1894 so as my parents anticipated the arrival of their 3rd child around the 25th of that month, they decided Dad had better go to Sioux City, Ia. and get one of his sisters to come and be with and care for Mother and the baby upon it's arrival. By time he arrived in Sioux City the weather had changed to a raging blizzard so he dared not face it until it abated. They arrived back home Jan. 18 to find that the baby had won the race and arrived on the 17th. Mother had been alone with 2 small sons to care for. However she managed to keep the fire going and by keeping all 3 children in bed with her all survived and no ill effects to anyone unless it was to Mother and I'm sure it was an ordeal for her but she was capable of handling the situation and so happy the baby was a girl and apparently very healthy. |
