Abstract (Document Summary)

President GOMPERS, Vice President MITCHELL, and other officers of the American Federation of Labor agreed with Mr. KEEFE, and said that if any of the Government departments was made an employment agency the parties who got employment would all write home and invite their friends to come, thus incurring the danger of encouraging immigration to an extent that would create disastrous competition for work.
