The Centerview COB was organized in 1869 with 20 members, according to the article in the Brethren Encyclopedia. There were Brethren living in Johnson County in the Centerview area but did not organize until after the Civil War when there was a major emmigration into MO. Neither the Emmert nor the Byerly name are among those listed as here before the war. It was closed in the early 1930's and members transferred to other Brethren churches in the area. The building burned much later after other churches had used this building, according to local residents. There is a large cemetery associated with this congregation. Samuel M. Byerly is buried in this cemetery. His dates are Feb 22, 1856 to Dec 8, 1890.
