The Unionville Republican newspaper Unionville, Putnum Co., MO Thrusday Sept 22, 1887

Mrs. Sarah Bolander died at her home in Grant township at 2 o'clock pm on Saturday, Sept 2, 1887, of consumption. Deceased was born in Ripley County, Indiana Mar 3, 1826. Emigrated to Hancock Co., Ills in 1835, emigrating from the later point to the territory of Iowa, in 1838. Married to Wm H. Bolander in Van Buren county, Iowa Nov 18, 1841 and embraced religion in 1844 living a consistent christian through life. There were born to Mr. and Mrs. Bolander fourteen children, and several of them are honored citizens of our county. In 1858 they emigrated to Putnum Co., and have since resided here. In 1883 she became sanctifed. On her deathbed she bid all her children and friends farewell and requested them to meet her in heaven. She requested a Holiness preacher to preach her funeral. At the burial the services were conducted by Rev McFarland. The funeral will be preached in the future. John Mathus, Lynn, Kansas, Isaac Mathus, Schuyler county, MO Enoch Mathus, Republican Co., Kansas and Mrs. Nancy Sutherd, of La Plata, MO brothers and sister of deceased, attended the burial. Mr Bolander, the bereaved husband, returns thanks to the kind neighbors, for their assistance and sympathy during the illness of his cherised companion. Deceased was a kind and affectionate wife and mother, and she had endeared herself to all her acquaintances who mourn her death.
