I Caleb Wright of the town of Tioga in the County of Tioga and State of New York considering the uncertainty of this life and being of sound mind and perfect memory blessed be GOD for the same do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner following/biz

First to my loving wife, Amelia I do give devise and bequeath, for and during her natural life the one third part of the farm on which I now reside. Also the one third part of the profits of the grist mill standing on said farm without any direction for repairing said mill. Also one half of my dwelling home, one half of the barn and out houses and also two good cows, six good sheep to of my best kids and bore, and also the other part of my furniture as she may choose or stated here of . Also my desk clock and large bible. Also one hundred dollars in Silver and one hundred dollars in Gold and to her herein and assigns to be paid to her by my executors herein after named out of the first provision of my personal estate, and I hereby direct my executors herein after named to pay off all debts and demands against my estates from the sale of my personal property or other monies that shall come into their hands at my disease. I do will and hereby direct my executors herein after named to pay to my sons Thomas, Jesse, Charles and Daniel cash the sum of one hundred dollars and to the heirs of my son Caleb deceased the sum of forty dollars and also to each of my daughters Betsey and Amelia the sum of one hundred dollars-- I do give devise and bequeath unto my grandson James Wright the son of my son Thomas the remaining to two thirds of my farm on which I now reside. Called the homestead subject to the ... and conditions herein after mentioned and after the death of my wife Amelia. I do give devise and bequeath to my said Grandson James Wright the one third part of my said farm which is above bequeathed to my said wife Amelia during her nature life, together with all the farming utilities[?] that shall belong to my said farm at my demise upon the above conditions that the said James Wright shall pay to my executors herein after to be named the sum of nine hundred dollars and I do hereby issue out of the said farm above bequeath to my said grandson James Wright the following pieces of Land [biz] six rods square of Land in what is called my Peach orchard north of my dwelling house for a burying ground for my family to be laid out by my executors is as to include all those already buried there together with the privilege of going to and from said burial ground but not to prevent any person unknown may occupy said farm from enjoying the fruit that may grow on said burying ground. I do also further reserve out of my said farm the following piece of land bounded and described as follows [biz]. Beginning at the south east corner of the old school house wood gate by the road thence westerly at the right angle with the road twelve rods thence southernly parallel with the road thirteen rods thence easterly parallel with grist line twelve rods to the road thence up the road thirteen rods place of beginning containing one acre of land be the same more or less. The above described piece of Land is for the public use forever, for the ....purpose of erecting a Meeting House on a past third and the remainder for a public burying ground and for no other purpose whatsoever...

And all the .... remainder and unnamed of my real and personal estate goods and chattels of whatsoever name or nature that have not been otherwise disposed of in this my will which I may die seized? of I do hereby will and authorize my Executors herein after named to sell and dispose of at public buying or otherwise as they may elect and after paying off my funeral charges and debts and discharged the legacies and bequests, which I have made in this my will then to devise the said remainder and unnamed of the monies arising from said sales equally between my sons and daughters. And if any doubts or dispute shall arise adjusting this my will or any part thereof, then said in such case it is my desire that it shall be construed favorably and equitable and agreeable to what shall by my true intent and meaning and I do hereby appoint my trusted friends Charles Pumfully and William Jones of the town of Owego in the County of Broome and State aforesaid executors of this my last will and testament or the ...of their hereby evoking all former wills by me made. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal the tenth day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighteen, A.D. The words debts due in the first page blotted and the word favorably in the third page interlined before signing. Tioga County of herewith mentioned that on the Twelfth Day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and nineteen, personally appeared before Mr. Robert Laurance Esqr. surrogate of the County of Tioga, Wright Dunham, Edward Platt and Junior Dodd the subscribing witnesses to the foregoing instrument of writing supporting to be the Last will and testament of Caleb Wright Late of the Town of Tioga in said County, deceased who being by me duly sworn did depose and say -- that they were present and did see the said Caleb Wright sign and seal the said instrument of writing and at the same time heard him publish and pronounce the same to be his last will and testament and that they subscribed their names as witnesses there in the presence of the testator, and of each other and that at the time of this execution thereof he appeared to them to be of sound mind and memory.
