The Dalton Book was written between 1935 and 1951. it is divided into two parts, Book I and Book II. Book is devoted to the early history of the family and tells of the Daltons of Byspham and of Thurnham. It also relates the history of the Daltons of Thurnham Hall or Senior Dalton Line, which survives to this day. Book II relates the history of the Junior Dalton Line. the author spent much time in research for the material for the Book and she traveled widely in Britain in search of information. Between 1951 and her death in 1959, various letters, notes, cuttings and additions were inserted in an attempt to keep the work as up to date as possible. . A copy was given to Michael Neale Dalton in 1967. Arthur Whittaker obtained a copy while serving a Genealogy Mission at the Hyde Park Chapel, London, England 1994 to 1996.
