NOte the duplicate entries for John Melvin dying in 1826. ,One gives a transcription of gravestone inscription, the other gives the genealogists data, which differs from the Gravestone transcription. This John Melvin was probably born in 1757/58 (see comments below), which implies that he is a contemporary of Joseph Melvin, not his son. That implies that there were two Melvin families in the area, perhaps headed by two brothers. Some of the other gravestones may represent children from either family, and probably should not be the sole basis for establishing the child list of either John or Joseph Melvin.
