Syracuse NY Daily Journal Tuesday, June 19, 1866 --Mr. Alonzo Lewis, of Parish, was fatally in- jured by attempting to split a board with a buzz saw in his mill, on the 2.1 inst. The saw pinch- ed, and while he was endeavoring to adjust it, the board was caught and driven end-wise with great violence toward him, hitting him in the lower abdomen and crushing his bowels. he lived in great pain until the morning of the fol- lowing Wednesday, when death relieved him of his sufferings. He was 29 years of age, and leaves a wife and two small children to mourn his untimely death. He was greatly respected by all who knew him.
