"The Examination of Robert McMahon who stands Committed to the Gaol of this County charged with the Murder of Robt. Reaburn. Present Andrew Lewis, John Archer, George Moffett, Gentlemen James Lockhard, Sampson Matthews, William Bouyer, Justices The above named Robert McMahon was led to the barr (sic) and upon Examination denied the fact wherewith he stands charged whereupon several Witnesses were sworn Y Examined upon the Premises and the Prisoner heard in his own defence on Consideration of which and of the circumstances relating to the crime It is the Opinion of the Court that the Prisoner ought to be tryed (sic)for the said fact at the Court of Oyer and Terminer to be held at the Capital in Williamsburg on the second Tuesday in December next and in Order thereto he is remanded to the Gaol of this County to be thence removed to the Publick Gaol in the City of Williamsburg, BE IT REMEMBERED that (Jean?) Reaburn Thomas McMahon John Reaburn James Murray and Hugh Donaho all of this County came into Court this Day before the Justices of our Lord the King now here and Acknowledged themselves each to owe to our sovereign Lord George the third Forty Pounds respectively to be levied of their Goods and Chattles (sic) Lands and Tenements and to our said Lord the King his heirs and Successors rendered. Upon Condition that if they shall personally appear before his Majestys Justices Oyer and Terminer at the Capital in Williamsburg afores'd on the second Tuesday in December next and shall then and there testify and give evidence against Robert McMahon of this County touching the murder of Robert Reaburn wherewith he stands Charged and shall not depart without leave of the last mentioned Justices then this recognizance to be Void. Robert Patterson a Material Witness on behalf of our Lord the King against Robert McMahon who stands charged with the Murder of Roberrt Reaburn having absented himself without leave of this Court It is Ordered that the Sheriff take him into Custody Y there to remain until he enter into recognizance in....
