The photo is believed to be of Friedrich Lohmeier in his cavalry officer's uniform. The date of the image is unknown, but considering the previously unknown birth information on his WeRelate page, the picture would have probably been taken in circa 1871, or later.

The picture was owned by Mary Louise Heitmuller, of Silver Spring, Maryland, a grandniece of Friedrich. The original is in COLOR! The uniform trim is in red, and the belt buckle, and sword is in gold. This compiler has seen it! Apparently, a German artist painted over parts of the original picture, before it was sent to the USA. This compiler took the original picture to a studio to have it copied (before photocopy machines existed) but did not order a reproduction made in color (regretfully!).
