Watchers

24 Mar 2019 email and digital photo sent from Jane (Rausch) Delcoma to Rebekah Carlisle, "This picture, taken in 1912, is of my grandparents, EMMETT HOWARD and IDA SMITH HOWARD and my mother MILDRED HOWARD (4 yrs) and my UNCLE DONALD HOWARD (2-yrs). Two daughters would later join their family ~ Evelyn Howard Moore in 1914 and Katherine Howard Krocker in 1919. They lived in Goshen by the Goshen School and directly across the road from the Zeisberger Cemetery which is now listed as the 2400 block of David Road S.E, New Philadelphia, Ohio. In 1919, Emmett Howard worked as an engineer for the Evans Pipe Co in Uhrichsville, Ohio, and was sent to another Evans Plant in Columbia, South Carolina. While there, he contacted typhoid fever from unknowingly drinking contaminated water. He traveled back to Goshen where he was admitted to Union Hospital in Dover and died 18 days later leaving my grandmother with 3 young children and a 3-month old baby."
