[edit] Article TextRecent Marriage The recent marriage of Miss Joanne Stanley Holbrook, to Capt. George Smith Patton, took place at the Protestant Episcopal Cathedral in Washington, D.C. The bride is the daughter of Brig. Gen. Willard Ames Holbrook, USA retired, and Mrs. Holbrook of Washington, formerly of Fort Levenworth, and the groom's parents are Mrs. George Smith Patton of Green Meadows, South Hamilton, Mass., and the late General Patton, war-time commander of the Third Amy in Europe. A reception at the Chevy Chase Club following the ceremony. On their return from the wedding trip the couple will live at Fort Knox, Ky., where Capt. Patton will be on the faculty of the Armored School. The bride, an alumna of the Mount Vernon Seminary was graduated on June 2 from Sweet Brier College. She belongs to the Army Daughters of Washington. Capt. Patton was graduated from West Point in 1946. He served later in the European Theatre with the Sixty-Third Tank Battalion. [edit] Sources
