District Court of the United States for the Southern District of New York

In the matter of the application of
Louis Brautman,
by occupation tinsmith
} PETITION to be admitted a citizen of the United States of America.

The above named applicant, being over twenty-one years of age, hereby petitions to be admitted to become a Citizen of the United States of America, and avers that two years or more have elapsed since he declared his intention to become such Citizen, and that a certified copy of said declaration is hereunto annexed.

In the matter of the application of the above named applicant to be admitted a Citizen of the United States. } REPORT.

To the Honorable the Judge of the District Court of the United States for the Southern District of New York,
  In pursuance of a rule of this Court adopted January 18th, 1896, I, the undersigned, as special Commissioner, do respectfully report:
  That I have been attended on such reference by the applicant and his witnes, who have been by me orally examined, and have taken the proofs offered by him, which are hereto annexed,
  And I find and report thereon that the said applicant has complied with the requirements of Statute in regard to admission to become a Citizen. I further find that said applicant can speak, read, and write the English language intelligibly. [Note: it is hard to tell whether the part about "write the English" is struck thru, or whether that is just part of the commissioner's signature.]
Dated August 3319 1901, [Note: hard to say what was meant with the date there. Looks like a 3 and maybe another 3, and 19 struck out.] [signed] ??, Commissioner.

In the matter of the application of the above named applicant to be admitted a Citizen of the United States. } TESTIMONY on REFERENCE.

Milton Ulfelde being duly sworn, deposes an says that he resides at 335 E. 65th Street, City of New York, NY and is by occupation a dry importer[?], that he is a Citizen of the United States of America, and personally acquainted with the above named applicant for admission to citizenship of the United States, and has known him for the past 81/2 years; that his occupation is that of a tinsmith and that he resides at No. 87 Cannon Street, Borough of Manhattan, City of New York, NY, that he personally knows that the applicant has resided continuously within the limits and under the jurisdiction of the United States of America since Febry 1893 and continuously within the State of New York since Febry 1893 and that during the said time of his residence within the United States and within the State, he has behaved as a man of good moral character, attached to the principles of the Constitution of the United States, and well disposed to good order and happiness of the same.

this 19th day of August 1901

Louis Brautman being duly sworn, deposes and says, that he is the above-named applicant for admission as a Citizen of the United States of America; that he was born on the 15th day of December in the year one thousand eight hundred and 65 and emigrated to the United States, landing at the Port of New York in the state of NY on or about the 20 day of August A.D. 1889 and that he now resides at No. 87 Cannon Street, in the City of New York; that he has arrived at the age of twenty-one years; that he has resided continuously within the United States since August 20 1889 and continuously within the State of New York since August 20 1889

this 19th day of August 1901,
