This photograph was in the collection of Joseph R. Carlisle, Sr., now 90 (13 Mar 2019). On the back was written, "Mary Dillon - 1948 - May Spring Formal." Joe was a member of the Zeta Phi fraternity at Otterbein and graduated in 1950. Per Otterbein's records, Mary graduated in 1951. In the fall of 1949 Helen Haines, a 1946 graduate of Harding HS, entered Otterbein. Helen and Joe were married in June of 1951. Mary married Gerald "Jerry" Jacoby in February of 1950. Jerry was a member of Helen's Class of 1953. The couples were friends throughout their lifetimes. Joe tells the story of how he met Mary: he noticed a her walking on crutches, carrying her books, and he began to carry her books for her.
