    This is my prime memory vision of my grandfather Orval Pascal Pumphrey - in his "Engineer's" working hat,blue shirt & bib-overalls, circa 1940-41. Pretty sure that is a hand well pump enclosed to keep the cattle away from it. "Dad" leased this farm on shares. It was the old VanBiber place about 3 miles west of Sharpsville, Indiana owned by my g-grandfather Jonas Hawkins. In the background is one of two orchards & the house. To the right, not shown was a second barn. Mother said dad never spanked them when they were growing up. It was startling, the few times I heard him say "shit." Certainly quite different from my Hawkins. Phillip Ardath Hawkins.
