[add comment] [edit] [3 December 2013]Trying to solve a mystery that has been haunting our family for 80+ years. My great aunt Mary Boehm married a William Ritzman or Reitzman from Illinois, possibly Chicago, had three children, lived in southern Minnesota for some time and then moved back to Illinois. They came back to visit family, boarded the train in Faribault, MN and were never seen again. I don't have details, unfortunately, but I do know that my grandfather (Mary's brother) traveled to Chicago to try tracing her whereabouts, but to no avail. She was not able to be contacted when her mother died in 1931, so everyone suspected the worst. How could an entire family just disappear? Are there records of train wrecks, house fires, explosions? They don't show up on census records. All I have is two birth records of their daughters born here in MN. William would have been born in about 1883 in Illinois and Mary was born March 21, 1886 in Lebenbrunn, Vas megye, Hungary. Thanks for any help you could provide.
