Family talk:William Clarke and Katherine Bunce (1)

The Identity of the Wife of William Clark of Hartford and Haddam [5 August 2012]

Torrey has "CLARK, William (-1681) & [?Catherine BUNCE]; ca 1644?; Hartford/Haddam, CT {Middletown Upper Houses 524; Dawes-Gates 3 [error for 2]:208; Sparrow 82-85; Sv. 1:404; Hartford Prob. 1:290-291; TAG 17:19}". However, none of the sources listed give his wife a name. The only reference I can find that would connect a Catherine Bunce with William Clark is a provision in the undated will of the elder Thomas Bunce of Hartford, "I doe give to my sister Katheren Clark £10." No definition of the relationship is stated, so Katheren could be his sister, his wife Sarah's sister, or, less likely, a sister in the church or a parent of one of his children's spouses and it could even refer to the wife of a Clark other that William. I think the best we can say is that the wife of William Clark is possibly one Catherine, sister of Thomas Bunce.--jaques1724 13:36, 5 August 2012 (EDT)
