There was a nomerge placed on this family [Family:Thomas Whittier and Ruth Rolfe (1)] and Family:Thomas Whittier and Ruth Rolfe (2) [since merged into Family: Thomas Whittier and Ruth Green (1)]. The only Thomas Whittier of interest in early New England is Thomas of Haverhill. He married one Ruth Green whose origins are apparently completely unknown. His mother was a Rolfe, but there was no Ruth Rolfe in that family, or in Essex County, who he could have married unless there was an unknown Ruth Rolfe who married an equally unknown ----- Green, was widowed, then married Thomas Whittier.
