From Simon Cooper and Lydia Unknown (1): Marriage of Simon Cooper and Lydia [31 May 2011]

This marriage isn't proven. However, Nayland (Suffolk) is only about 7 miles from Dedham (Essex) so it's not a stretch to think that a Nayland widower (Gregory Stone) would marry a Dedham widow (Lydia (-----) Cooper).

In a later article, "Sparhawk-Rogers-Stoughton-Cooper," Mr. Appleton adds the baptisms of Robert (1610), Thomas (1612), and Samuel (1616), also sons of Simon Cooper of Dedham. If they came to New England, it apparently was not with Gregory Stone and wife Lydia. He also points out that the register of Dedham "is by no means perfect" so the absence of a baptismal record for Lydia does not mean that she wasn't Simon's daughter.--Jaques1724 01:05, 31 May 2011 (EDT)
