[add comment] [edit] Wrong Hannah [19 May 2010]I removed Person:Hannah Ames (3), d/o William and Hannah Ames of Braintree as the wife in this marriage. Her page had two incompatible marriages for Hannah Ames. Both marriages appear valid, it is just a question of which Hannah Ames participated in each. First, there was a 1660 marriage in Braintree to John Hayden who lived until 1718, his wife Hannah dying in Braintree 1690 of small pox, all with good sources. This Hannah Ames would never have had a chance to remarry, so the same Hannah could not have married both. There are two distinct Hannah Ames/Emes/Eames involved in these two marriages. Second, there is a 1674 marriage in Milton to Samuel Babcock, that Hanna living until 1723. A secondary source identifies this as the daughter of William and Hannah but gives no evidence to support this assertion. Since Samuel was 9 years younger than this Hannah, this is a questionable match to start with, and more so since a more likely alternative exists, with good sources, all within Braintree. I believe the Hannah that married Samuel Babcock is a different Hannah Ames/Emes/Eames. --Jrich 11:05, 19 May 2010 (EDT) |
