Family talk:Nehemiah Allen and Anna Wilmarth (1)

Watchers

wrong husband [21 September 2010]

There are no sources on this page. The marriage date is abt 1705, the imprecise date indicating no marriage record has been found. There is no death date for the wife to confirm the rapid remarriage of the husband in 1706/07. The husband was born in Bridgewater and subsequent events in his life were also there, all of which make him a questionable match for a marriage in Rehoboth in 1705. There is a Nehemiah Allen in Connecticut and another actually born in Rehoboth, so one should have questions about this marriage. Unfortunately, with no sources, no help in answering these questions is given, and one can only assume a mistake was made.

Source:Daggett, John. Sketch of the History of Attleborough : From Its Settlement to the Present Time, p. 87, says "Allen, Nehemiah, son of Isaac Allen 1st of Rehoboth, married Anne Wilmarth, daughter of Thomas Wilmarth 2d, of that town, came to Attleborough about 1710. He had 5 children, viz. Isaac, John, Nehemiah, Daniel, Anne, who were born between the years 1711 and 1726." The cited births are found in Source:Attleboro, Bristol, Massachusetts, United States. Vital Records of Attleborough, Massachusetts, to the End of the Year 1849, p. 12-3, showing that Anne was alive at least until 1726, proving that the Nehemiah Allen who married her was not the Nehemiah Allen who married Sarah Wormal. So I removed Person:Nehemiah Allen (3) from this page. --Jrich 09:38, 21 September 2010 (EDT)
