Smyth's article really messed up the Joseph Lee family [3 September 2014]

In addition to fouling up the marriage dates, Smythe also made a major mistake with the daughter Lucy Lee, which seems to leave doubt as to which (if any) of the two Lucy Lees in Guilford belong to Joseph. He seems to confuse the Jun 1734 marriage date of a Lucy Lee to John Cruttenden into a 'birth date'! No such birth date is recorded in Guilford records. Instead, what is record on Guilford page 159 are two different Lucy Lee marriages over 20 years apart:

Lucy Lee m John Cruttenden Jr on 4 Jun 1734 (this becomes a 10 Jun 1734 birth date in the article) Lucy Lee m John Norton Jr on 27 Dec 1758

If I had to guess, I would say the later marriage belongs to the daughter but it could have just as easily been the first as well.--Daniel Maxwell 17:07, 3 September 2014 (UTC)
