[add comment] [edit] Is this the right Martha Hunt? [19 July 2010]In the Hunt Genealogy by Wyman, it says that John Hunt, the son of John Hunt and Martha Neighbors, the alleged brother of this Martha according to the current state of this page, had his estate divided between aunts in England. This makes one suspect that his sister Martha was dead by then (1708) and could not have been the wife of Joseph Chandler since Martha (Hunt) Chandler had children from 1702 until 1729. Wyman separately identifies Martha (Hunt) Chandler, on p. 140, as daughter of Samuel and Mary Hunt of Duxbury, (apparently not yet entered into WeRelate, but this would make her the sister of Mary Hunt who m. Duxbury 1704 Jacob Burgess). Similar statements are made by Cutter in Genealogical and Personal Memoirs of Massachusetts, p. 3:1393. Wondering what evidence there is that identifies the wife of Joseph Chandler as the daughter of John Hunt of Boston and his wife Martha (Neighbors) Hunt instead of the Samuel and Mary Hunt who lived in the same town that Joseph Chandler and Martha Hunt got married in? --Jrich 16:07, 19 July 2010 (EDT) |
