Family talk:Joseph Buckland and Deborah Allen (1)

wrong Deborah? [30 October 2010]

GMB says there is no further record of Deborah, d/o William Allen, after her baptism in 1637. She is not mentioned in her father's will of 1678, but neither was Elizabeth, but Elizabeth's children were among "all the parties interested or any ways concerned in the estate of William Allen Senr. formerly of Manchester" (see GMB) in the settlement of the estate in 1697, whereas there is no mention of Deborah or her children. The marriage of Deborah Allen to Joseph Buckland occurred in Rehoboth, but her father was still in Essex County, so how is it known this is his daughter? Abstracts of Bristol County Probate, p. 97, abstracts the will of John Allen of Swansea who names "James Bucklin, Joseph Bucklin, baruch Bucklin, Isaac Bucklin & Lydia Barrow chldn. of my sister Deborah Bucklin." These match the children of Joseph and Deborah listed in Arnold's Vital Record of Rehoboth. But William Allen is not listed as having a son John either in GMB or on his WeRelate page.

It seems probable that Joseph Buckland's wife was from a different family. --Jrich 13:43, 30 October 2010 (EDT)
