[add comment] [edit] marriage location [20 January 2014]The marriage location used to say Probably Bridgewater. It was changed to Manomet with the description set to Possible Place, and now, much later, the qualifier removed. All with no source added to justify any of the changes. Obviously there is no marriage record, so it seems like some qualifier is required because it would seem like without a record there is no way of knowing where the marriage occurred, and that any location is an assumption and should be indicated as such. Further, there is no information about the husband or wife to show where might have lived, so how Manomet is arrived at as a conclusion remains a mystery to the reader. It is not clear that the use of "probably" is even justified, and "possibly" is about the strongest qualifier that can be used. Maybe if some evidence can be provided as to the residence of the wife's parents, then perhaps probably would be justified based on typical practice, but that is still assumption This page is not here to present the changing opinions of any single person, it is meant to be a community page and should therefore reflect what the community believes. The community will be convinced by, and can respond to, evidence, but assertions without evidence do not contribute to reaching a consensus. Please provide a source, or at least an explanation justifying the marriage location, specifically why something more precise than Plymouth County is justified. --Jrich 16:54, 20 January 2014 (UTC) |
